Mastering your Motivation

Being a business owner can be an exhilarating and rewarding journey.

But there are also moments when it’s tough. When the flow of money slows down. When you feel the urge to go back to the 9 to 5 and leave the stresses of entrepreneurialism  behind. It is during these challenging times that your motivation and resilience will be put to the test.

Remember, success is not determined solely by financial gains, but by the spirit and determination, and sometimes pure stubbornness, that you possess.

Getting There Takes Patience

Most people in business give up way too early. There are conflicting stats online about quite how many, but it’s a fact that the vast majority don’t get to celebrate their first business birthday.

So many online influencers feed us the stories like “Make a million in a month” meaning striving entrepreneurs feel they have failed if they don’t hit these arbitrary targets, set by unethical people peddling an unattainable dream.

Remember, on social media we only see the curated numbers and don’t appreciate how long it took to get there. People think that it’s a really quick, easy thing to do but the reality is it takes patience.

It is important to not put so much pressure on yourself to get massive results but rather to think about why you are doing this in the first place.

Plenty of people are successful offering a similar product or service to the one that you provide. In fact, I’d go as far to say if there isn’t someone already doing what you do, it probably isn’t a very good idea! You just have to do it your way.

Remember that all the most successful people have failed more than once, they just learnt from these failures, and reframed them as learning opportunities.

Look at why something didn’t work, make the necessary adjustments and tweaks and then come back stronger and wiser.

As I once said “The only overnight success I have ever had is getting more than 5 hours sleep!”

Think About Your Reason Why

What is your why?

Why are you running your own business?

What is your passion?

Why are you where you are?

Everyone has a different purpose and backstory. You don’t have to want to change the world or earn millions, you just need to be clear on what you believe in and never forget this.

Remember this when things get tough.

Ignore The Haters

There will always be those who doubt your ability. Forget them – they don’t know you. You know what you can achieve, their opinions are irrelevant.

Think about why it is important to you that you succeed.

Don’t worry if it’s not a big reason but write down what it is. You need to be able to push through the obstacles when things are slow or when the results are not what you were aiming for. This is when you need to realise that what you want is non-negotiable.

Don’t Believe Everything You Read

Remember that the vast majority of what we see on social media is a curated and carefully selected version of the truth. These lives and these humble brags and these posts are not reality, and often the lure of what you think you want is stronger than the appreciation of what you actually have.

Comparisons are always unfair because we are comparing the worst we know about ourselves to the best we presume about others.

Be Consistent

This is huge. People make business hard by thinking there’s some magic formula that they don’t have that these other successful people have.

There is no magic formula, but one thing is for sure – if you show up consistently in your business, and for your business, time and time again you will see results.

I’ve had clients who have struggled with showing up on social media over and over again. I get it. It’s tough at the start when the tumbleweed and crickets are out in full force – I’ve been there! But if you persist I know for a fact that the snowball effect will kick in. You will gain more followers, then someone comments on a post, then someone asks a question on a live, then the engagement grows and your followers start to look forward to seeing you and engaging with you.

I have a phrase that says there are a million ways to make a million dollars and I believe it.

I believe that pretty much whatever you do, if you do it for long enough you will achieve what you want to achieve. It doesn’t matter which coach you’re following or which strategy you follow, if you commit to it and are dogged, persistent and patient, the success will come.

Trust in the process!

The Right Mindset

Mindset and strategy work hand in hand together. Work on your strategy, I mean really work on it. Put time aside to prepare and to plan.

Then you have to master your mindset to stay motivated.

It is important to remember that it doesn’t matter if things go wrong. If you don’t hit your targets or your goals this week. These things will happen, what you control is how you react to them.

Staying motivated during lean times is essential for your long-term success.

Embrace the journey, connect with your purpose, rise above negativity, seek genuine success stories, embrace consistency, and foster a resilient mindset. Remember, true success is not measured solely by financial gains, but by the unwavering dedication and passion you bring to your business.
